The Afterlife, what is it?

Is there really an "After life?" I would like to think there is, but at times, i think that there will be nothing but blackness. when I do think like that, I get scared. But then I think of what Stephen Kings short story was implying, (That Feeling, You Can Only Say What It Is in French) that hell is eternal repetition. But what would "Heaven" be like? I would like your honest opinion. Please be serious.
