To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors?

Taxes are collected by the government to fund programs deemed by the majority (not the individual) to be worthwhile. It wasn't sinful to spend tax dollars to educate former slaves, though some plantation owners probably found the notion abhorrent.
