Why are so many people afraid/fearful of things & treat the world with a closed mind, only in their ways?

I feel Religion is the problem. If you look at the world, it's like we are all just a bunch of kids, we claim an area of the world stick a flag in the ground and call it ours.Religion hasn't stop this concept just about all religions in the world believe in a higher power that made every thing, but none stand up and says "it's gods". Science has no real idea of the nature of things they are always updating their ideas to fit the new boxes life throws at them. The Bible, people look at it and take it at face value,but it contains information that is thousands of years old "real history". All this end of the world stuff,Religion made this scare by miss reading and taking text out of context. religion used scare tactics to keep the faithful in line, there is no hell that your soul burns forever; God loves his children if they didn't make the grade "why torture them"why not a quick end, to keep the fearful faithful in line. religion,even Jewish faith has twisted some part of text for their own needs. so forgive the religious nuts. pick up the book and read it for yourself you may need a dictionary and a exhaustive concordance. but it is a informative read.
