If socialism works in Europe, why not here in the U.S.?

Because, unlike europe, America's biggest strength is our economy. In the 20 years after WW2, we went from a weak little country to a modern Roman empire, dominating economically, militarily, & culturally. And while Sweden, France & Iceland are the most advanced places in the world, America needs our mive economy, or at least phase it out before there can be any talk of socialism. And in my opinion, the way America is culturally (lazy, stupid & cheap) were better off with a capitalist system, despite it's shortcomings.
