Is religion a means of subduing the otherwise psychotic?

I mean, one grows tired of the constant stream of mindless devotion, that's only fare given the unproven extent of any realization what so ever that offers anything other than "faith", a pretty easily proven falsehood. My neighbors gonna hate me but its' true.
