A friend publishing her work (revised)?

Okay, I think I need to expand a bit on my recently posted question. A friend of mine is trying to get her work published in a newspaper, magazine, or newsletter of some type. She isn't worried about getting paid, she just wants to keep the rights to her work and doesn't want the publisher to change the work before printing. Does anybody have any suggestions?
